Conference Championship Recap
Another weekend of NFL playoffs, another couple of blowouts. Its become a theme at this point: only two out of the ten games played have actually been good: Cowboys vs Packers and Steelers vs Chiefs. But, the Super Bowl is set: Atlanta vs New England.
GAME 1: Falcons 44, Packers 21
I knew the Falcons were going to win this game, but I had no idea how much of a blowout this would be. The game was never close, as Atlanta got out to a 24-0 lead at halftime. A missed field goal and turnover at the 1 yard line cost the Packers 10 points, and they never recovered. This game looked like 53 Falcons against Aaron Rodgers from the start, and Atlanta cruised. Matt Ryan played the best game of his life, and Atlanta dominated on both sides of the ball. The Atlanta Falcons sent the Georgia Dome out in quality fashion: Flat out domination of an undermanned (and extremely average to begin with) Green Bay Packer squad. When does the "Free Aaron Rodgers" noise start?
Game MVP's: Matt Ryan and Julio Jones
GAME 2: Patriots 36, Steelers 17
Score another one for the home team. If there was any doubt about the Patriots ability to beat a quality quarterback, that should be long gone now. If not for a garbage time touchdown, the final score could have looked even more lopsided. Tom Brady carved up the Steelers secondary and the defense looked great. Leveon Bell's injury certainly did not help Pittsburgh's attack, but they have a more than capable backup in Deangelo Williams who played quite well. The Patriots are virtually unbeatable in Foxborough and proved once again how valuable home field advantage is for this team. The "killer B's" may have scared many Patriots fans and actually moved the ball well in the first half, but second half adjustments turned a close game into a blowout. The Patriots didn't turn the ball over, played great defense, and were extremely efficient on offense.
Game MVP's: Tom Brady and Chris Hogan.
We'll see you next week for the Super Bowl Preview.
