DAVID PRICE: Panic time in Boston?

David Price is seeking a second opinion on an elbow/forearm injury. Know who he's going to see? Dr. James Andrews. Now, MLB pitchers do not go to see Dr. Andrews unless its bad. Elbow Soreness and Dr. Andrews in the same sentence usually means Tommy John surgery. Its never good news, it looks like Price's second season in Boston may be over before it even gets started. All of the swear words. Every single one.

So what does this mean for the Red Sox? Absolute panic. Jump of bridges. Season over, World Series over. So much for the Cubs-Red Sox dream series. We might as well just tank for the number one draft pick in June of 2018. Pack it in, fellas.

Well, maybe not all of that is true or should be taken seriously. But is David Price the difference between a fairly clear-cut division title and fighting for the division or a wild card spot? Absolutely. Price is a guy that gives you over 200 quality innings a year. Who are we going to replace that with? E-Rod? Henry Owens? (gag). Price is an enormous blow to our staff. Sure, the firepower is still there at the top of the rotation, but it sure was nice to have our pick of two of Wright, Pomeranz, and Rodriguez. Now, we could be forced to roll with all three of them, and if one isn't working out, we're screwed.

Now theres a chance that none of this matters and Price is fine. Actually, no there isn't. No chance whatsoever. When you get a second opinion from Dr. Andrews, you're basically announcing that you'll be tirelessly working for opening day in 2018. If some miracle happens and Price is ok, this team is a World Series contender. They/ll win the division, and anything can happen once you get into the playoffs. Without Price, it could be a struggle to play in October.

UPDATE: PRICE IS FINE!!! HE'S OK!!! Shoutout to me for being the worlds biggest tool, after pretty much declaring Price dead on arrival earlier today. But its all good because HE'S OK! 7-10 days rest? No problem. Hell, lets give him 3 weeks. Have him get back into action a couple weeks into the year, Rodriguez definitely can't screw up too bad. WE'RE GOING TO THE SERIES!!!! Thank you Dr. Andrews. The Red Sox may win 130 games this year. Book it.
