Turmoil in Cleveland: Is Lebron to Blame?
Cavaliers in turmoil? As a super team in the NBA great things are being expected from Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, but as of late have not been producing at all. Losing 6 of the last 11 games, it looks like their championship roster is starting to crumble. To be honest, it might be all Lebron’s fault. Whether he meant to or not, he has brought unnecessary attention to his team and the organization as a whole.
Earlier this week Lebron brought his frustration to the media’s attention by practically calling out his team. “King” James was reported saying "I don't know what we got to offer," "I just know me, personally, I don't got no time to waste. I'll be 33 [next] winter, and I ain't got time to waste. That's what I'm talking about" per ESPN. With him bringing locker room frustration to the media, his teammates didn’t respond to it very well.
Cav’s starting center Tristan Thompson replied with, “This is the team we have right now” Thompson said. “That’s how you got to approach the game. You can’t go out there hoping somebody is coming to walk through the door. Play with whoever the hell we got right now, and let’s win some [expletive] games” per TotalProSports.com. With the team he already has, how much more help does he expect to get?
The Cavaliers team in itself is a top caliber team in the NBA and the reigning NBA Champions, filled with All-Stars in Lebron. Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love. Along with players at the tops of their positions in JR Smith and Tristan Thompson. ALSO, they acquired one of the best shooters in NBA history in Kyle Korver. Without adding a premier superstar like DeMarcus Cousins, I don’t think this team can get better than it already is.
Is Tristan right by telling Lebron to focus? Or is Lebron right, in asking for more help to beat top tier teams like the Warriors, Rockets and Raptors. Or is it straight up that Lebron is complaining about simply slipping a little bit in games recently and over reacting completely. In personal belief, I believe the team as a whole needs to refocus and stay away from the media. The future of this team will be determined on whether or not they can get back into a championship mindset.
